Skill Level: Beginner sewer - Introduction to sewing clothing for your baby.
This class is for you if you are a beginner to sewing or you feel a little rusty and need a confidence boost at using your machine. It's also for you if you'd absolutely love to learn the basics of sewing clothing for your baby. You are in safe hands. I'll start at the very beginning with the super basics and have you creating some amazing items in no time!
This is a 1 hour pre-recorded class that will teach you how to sew some super gorgeous and amazing items for your baby.
*To take part in the class you will need your own sewing machine.
If you don't have one yet, please ask around your friends and family to see who has one. You'll be surprised at how many people have a sewing machine hidden in thier loft or garage gathering dust!
Ask them if you can borrow it, or have a look for a second hand machine. I'll email you a free guide to buying your first sewing machine when you book a place on this course too.
On this course you will learn:
- Basics of a sewing machine, what it does, how it works.
- How to thread a machine.
- How to wind the bobbin.
- Basic sewing terminology
- Basic stitches on the machine, what are they for, what do they do.
- Main focus on straight stitch and zig zag stitch (two most common stitches used in sewing)
- create simple projects to get you started which will include reusable facewipes or baby wipes and then we will progress onto making an adorable Dribble Bib for your baby!
Each participant will be emailed a 'This Mummy Sews Dribble Bib Pattern' for you to use.
You may already have a fabric stash at home, if so great!
You can make everything for this class using fabrics from around your house.
E.g. an old tshirt you no longer wear and an old bath towel/tea towel/facecloth.
SEWING KIT UPGRADE:
There is an upgrade option for this class where I will post to you all the fabrics and haberdashery items you need to complete all the projects in this class for an extra £10.
I'll send you some super cute cotton jersey fabric, organic terry towelling and some velcro for the bib fastening. Simply tell me if you are sewing for a little boy or little girl and I'll surprise you with some amazing fabrics from my stash box!
It's the perfect way to test out sewing before you go spending extra money on fabrics etc.

By completing this course you will gain the confidence to create more items by yourself at home using your own machine.
This class will also fully prepare you for the ONLINE Baby Wardrobe classes. I plan to roll out online classes for each item on the baby wardrobe and a full online course soon.
